Captain Complain-o

Not to be Captain Complain-o, but there are a few things in life right now that are just sort of making me miserable. Two things, actually.

1. Big Girls Don't Cry by Fergie.

and

2. the theme song to the cartoon show Clifford the Big Red Dog.

For whatever reason I can not get either of these songs out of my head. It's gone on for days. I think it might be a virus. Does anyone know any medicine that can cure me of these ills? I'm thinking of grabbing the cordless screwdriver and just doing a little surgery upstairs if I can't get anything else playing on the FM up there.

Any suggestions?

Andy, I hope you know.I hope you know. that this has nothing to do with you. It's personal - myself and I - you've got some straightening out to do.

Try "Love is a Battlefield." That's been getting stuck in my head a lot lately.

On second thought, don't try it.

Beats the heck out of the Arthur Song...

"It's a simple message, and it comes from the heart... believe in yourself... cause that's the place to start...."

Come on... you know it.

FM radio? Well, at least it's not a crappy Nickelback ballad. I'm pretty sure those dudes have caused me to never use my radio again.

Brody-true. Arthur is worse than the Clifford song.

i disagree with brody. the arthur soundtrack rocks....crazy bus, crazy bus, riding on a crazy bus. riding up, riding down, driven by a funny clown.

andy, as for getting fergie out of your head, try listening to some bon jovi .) what did you say before? something something something but with hair???

TAFKAP always worked for me: "All seven and we watched them fall; stand in the way of love and we will ..."

it's a world of laughter, a world or tears
its a world of hopes, its a world of fear
theres so much that we share
that its time we're aware
its a small world after all
...

Did that help?

Clifford needed Emily so ........ Ugh, I hear you. There are also a few potty DVDs out there that have songs that "make me want to stick a fork in my eye"

Although SWTGG was the last song on in my car last night when I got home and when I was singing it around the house I drove the wife crazy. Apparently I should leave all performances of that song to you.

andy,

i read an awesome book called "the lobotomist" here is the amazon link: http://www.amazon.com/Lobotomist-Maverick-Medical-Genius-Illness/dp/0471232920 . it is about drilling holes in people's heads... the first form of psychosurgery! and it involves an ice pick and someone's frontal lobe!

i don't think this will help with the songs in the head, but this is a response to the "screwdriver" part of the blog.

i think that this book is amazing. so, read it. it will at least make you cringe and pray prayers of thankfulness to God that the Lobotomy is no longer being practiced!

do, a deer a female deer
re, a drop of golden sun
mi, a name I call myself
fa, a long long way to run
so, a needle pulling thread
la, a note to follow so
ti, a drink with jam and bread
and that brings us back to do, do, do, do

do, a deer....

repeat as needed

This is guaranteed to remove any song stuck in your head...

...and replace it with this one. FOREVER.

Fortunately I haven't been stuck with the Clifford theme, but I find myself humming Dora, Diego, and Caillou far too often.

But then the other night at AP's concert I finally picked up this thing called Slugs, Bugs.... I think you might be familiar with it. Now I've got "Tractor, tractor, harvesting the wheat" stuck in my head. And the girls keep wanting to listen to the CD "just one more time". I may regret purchasing this album. ;-)

Try anything by James Taylor. That always helps me.

It's a well known fact that "The Girl From Ipanema" flushes out any song currently stuck in one's head every time.

Hey, Andy

Any song of my latest album will do the trick - get ready for an afternoon of agony!

One word: Boz

dude, just listen to some billy joel. New York State of Mind is easy to get stuck in your head, and its way better than Fergie.

I've always heard that writing for a new Normals album does wonders for getting songs out of your head...I'm just sayin

Over the Rhine has your answer.

you don't even need the whole song, just listen to a sample:

Chris- every time we get in our van "Tractor song please"

I have almost regreted buying it too although I'm a sucker for the slow songs at the end.

March 18, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterEd

I'm not sure if a cordless screwdriver would help, but maybe a regular screwdriver would work...or a whiskey sour...or maybe just a couple of Fat Tires. That should help.

March 18, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterEric Brown

You had me worried there for a minute. I was thinking you were going to take a screwdriver to your [upstairs] head ...

ouch!

All i can say is:
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy

March 18, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterDougB

aint nothing wrong with a bit of fergie!
