Clearing my head.

Man, I really should be going to bed, this single-parenting thing is crazy exhausting. For some reason I just feel like I need to type a little bit tonight. I think I need to clear my head so I can get to sleep. Some things I'm thinking about.

- The girls and I bought some new goldfish the other day. Two orange ones and one grey one. They love to just look at them and talk to them. It's great.

- My wife is really into local, organic foods, dairies, etc... She discovered the Hatcher Family Dairy. Their Chocolate Milk is one of the best things I've ever tasted. I can't stop. I'm addicted. (CLICK HERE) I keep meaning to tell Todd about it, because for some reason I think he'll really love it.

- I've gotten a lot of emails from folks who just found me through last weekend's Caedmon's shows. Thanks for saying hey and coming by. I hope you stick around.

- Super Text Twist is still a freaking awesome game, and I'm still not ashamed to say I'm really good at it.

- I love this picture of my daughter Sadie.

- I came up with an idea for a podcast series. It may possibly go down in flames during production, or it could be brilliant. Either way, it will be interesting. I'll keep you posted.

- I have a lot of thoughts about Ron Paul and the mainstream media that royally screwed him (and us) over, but that will be another post.

- The Writer's Strike is over. I need more of The Office. Hurry.

- I have a friend who told me tonight he's never read a novel. I want to get him Ender's Game. I think that would be a great entrance to reading. Thoughts?

- I'm really tired and should go to bed.

Welcome to Mommyhood.

You do bullets, I do bullets.

- My wife visited her folks for 4 days right after Christmas, and yeah, I gained a whole new appreciation for what she does when I'm gone on business trips. Not. Easy.

- As long as your girls aren't throwing other things into the fishtank, you're doing OK. Our younger one thinks it's a game. She's headed for trouble if she keeps it up.

- Great picture of Sadie. :-)

- If you need a nerd to help with the podcasting, leave me know.

- Bring on The Office! I'm just sad that I don't get any new Chuck episodes until next fall.

- Never read a novel? Oh my. Yeah, Ender's Game would be a fine choice. OSC is a great storyteller.

I'm interested to hear your thoughts on the Ron Paul situation. It's very sad that the media portrayed him as "that little old guy who thinks he's running for president" rather than the constitutionally backed economic genius that he is...

I'm excited that there will be a longer than 8-episode season 4 for LOST. It's freaking awesome so far.

- An A.O. podcast would be awesome...count me in!

-Yeah, I'm really missing The Office too. That show makes me proud to be a Pennsylvanian.

-The picture of your daughter is really cute. She's the exact same age as my son (born on the same day, same year...you get it). Anyway, 14 months is a great age, though he seems to get into everything, you can't take your eyes off him for a second or he's into something...by the way, his name is Andrew too :)

-Can't say I'm much of a reader myself, but I really liked The Chronicles of Narnia (I know, it's not a novel, but a collection of 7 short books). Not very challenging reading, I know, but then again, my reading comprehension skills aren't very good.

Ok, I'm shutting up now.
God bless

Ron Paul was definitely shafted. Even "fair and balanced" FoxNews left him off of their NH debate. I don't like the media tone in general. When Mike Huckabee started talking about his support of the Fair Tax, a media person, said "that's fine, but since that doesn't stand a chance, what else would you suggest?" Huckabee, to his credit, pointed out that the negative attitude was the problem. I think Libertarianism has been given similar treatment. Sadly, I am more disgusted with our election process than ever (and it's one of the best in the world).

What sevenmiles said. Our whole system of government could use an overhaul, truth be told.

Andy,

Just wanted to thank you again for the Lincoln show last week. I never introduced myself but I asked you about your girl's pictures on your pedal board during sound check (who knew then how your board would betray you later).

My wife and I want to thank you for "A New Beginning". We tear up everytime we listen to it and are so greatfull for the redemptions God has brought to our relationship over the last three years. We hadn't even heard your name before last week but that song is so meaningfull to us now. Just wanted to encourage you that God is using you.

I would also second any Orson Scott Card book.

Hmm, both myself and the guy who loaned my Ender's Game thought there was a weird sexual tension between Ender and his sister. Anyway, it was a good book.

You could start him on something else completely addicting like Brian Jacque's Redwall series.

ender's game was probably the reason I got into reading. I've lost count of the times through i've had over the years. if you don't enjoy reading that book . . . well there's just no helping you. As my father would say, "if that doesn't get your fire burning . . . you're working with wet wood." i bet my dad isn't the only one who says that, but you know what i mean.

I will try to suppress the part of me that wants to rant at the idea of having never read a novel, and I will simply say that enger's Game was a fast read for me, but may not be everyone's cup of tea. I would go with your gut instinct on this, but think of other books too. I'm not saying to hand the guy War and Peace, but whatever.

My sister (who wrote the review of the Colorado show on cc.net) and some friends went to the show and said they loved it, and your set. I was psyched, because I recommended that said friend download the Letters to the Editor EP this summer.

Loved your shows in Lincoln. I thought it was wonderful to hear a full band behind you for those two songs during the Caedmon's concert, and it was a blast doing sound for you at GC later on. About the first novel for your friend I whole heartedly agree that Ender's Game would be a great starter. Easy read, engaging characters, great twist at the end, and you get hooked into the entire series as well.
