Fun Show Tonight

Thanks to everybody who came out to the show tonight. Twas a blast. I'm beyond exhausted, so I'll give you details tomorrow. I counted at least two active photographers, so we should have some good photo action to share soon. See you tomorrow...

Hey Andy,
Great show tonight! It was rather different from the acoustic show with Andy a few years back. Had a blast and it was great fun. We rushed out after your set and I didn't get a chance to get a copy of 'The Morning', can you bring one to Sputnik when you come in for the overdubs.
Thanks
Matt
THEE Matt Allison? What are you doing here, young dude? Long time, no talk. You are really going to dig "The Morning," btw!
so...
While reading your post i tried to put my left shoe on my right foot. I'm an idiot.
good show.
Somebody should post a setlist of the shows so those of us who weren't there could dream about what it was like.
Curt,
It is I! THEE Matt Allison :-)
It has been a long time my friend. I'm in town for 2 months assisting Mitch Dane at Sputnik Sound. These days I tend to be making records for other people rather than my own.
I got married 2 years ago and came off the road to be closer to home... clearly that worked out... I'm 8,000 miles away from my wife, Hah hah! But I'll be return to her at the end of March.
I'm assiting Mitch on a few projects for various bands, most of which have Andy playing on them (being the stand up guy that he is), we are actually in studio again tomorrow.
I hope all is well with you, I don't get much time to hang out on the AP forum like I used to, I do need to stop by and say 'hi' sometime.
Right setlist...
I'm trying to do this from memory, which is hard, but I belive the following songs were played and I'm not sure of the exact order.
I do know the opening and closing are correct.
1. After the Garden
2. Farmers Wife
3. Following the Blind
4. House of Mirrors
5. Kara
6. Santa Babara
7. Marylin
6. Dance Away The City
8. Early in the Morning (Solo Acoustic)
Andy had an all star band most of whom I got to spent The Superbowl with... not know what the heck was going on... Football is confusing, but the adverts and halftime concert were great! Go Bears! I mean Colts... I give up! LOL
Cheers
Matt
The setlist was those nine songs, but in this order:
01. After the Garden
02. Following the Blind
03. House of Mirrors
04. Kara
05. Farmer's Wife
06. Marilyn
07. Dance Away the City
08. Santa Barbara
09. Early in the Morning
I haven't listened to my recording yet, mainly because I'm still very pissed at myself for accidentally hitting the stop button during the solo in "House of Mirrors" and losing 6-10 seconds of it. In fact, I just got self-loathing and bile again. Anyway.
But anyway: because of my frustrations with my turnaround time on photos, I'm going with a more raw and unfiltered method of throwing everything at Flickr when I get it, so ... http://flickr.com/photos/gfmorris/sets/72157594526449693/" rel="nofollow">Geof Morris's Flickr photoset of photos of Andrew Osenga's set at the Exit/In on February 8, 2007.
Some photos need to be deleted because they're out-of-focus, and some need to be rotated because the auto-rotate sensor apparently stopped working mid-show. [D'oh!] And I'm a hack photographer, so there's a pretty low signal-to-noise ratio in doing it this way, but at least I can get the photos available faster.
Anyhow, I'll probably have the audio up this weekend.
Matt Allison...wow. Man, it's been forever. Circle through Atlanta while you're on this side of the globe if you can. It'd be nice to see you again.
That WAS such a great show! And boy have I got a story about it!!!
I drove HOURS to see the show, and left just after work in my work clothes. I got there 30 minutes late and only caught the last two songs! I was hoping the show would be running late, but it didn't. I know where I'm from, if they say the show starts at 9, you get there at 10 and they actually don't start til 10:30!
And to top that, me and my buddy came back to find a boot on our car! We were in EXIT/IN for 20 minutes tops! (and didn't leave money to park because we didn't have change) So I split the $50 boot fee with him and we left...
The 10 bucks I paid for the show plus the 25 bucks to get the boot removed adds up to $35 for Thursday night's show. Now take into consideration I only saw two songs, and that adds up to $17.50 per song. WHEW!
It was all well worth it though, since I've been following The Normals and Andy since the beginning and this was my first time to see him take the stage. The sound was incredible, the band was tight, and I never realized how much charisma he had. Hopefully next time I'll be able to catch the whole show!
Chris, I taped the show, so you'll be able to hear what you missed. :)
