well, THAT was fun...

It sure was. The Radio Cafe was completely packed out just to hear a couple of my friends and me play a few of our songs. What a blast. We did a little round, Andy Gullahorn, then Randall Goodgame, Andy Peterson, Jill Phillips, Matthew Jones and I finished it up to start it over again. Sandra and Derek came up to do a new song off of her latest record, and Eric Peters, Billy Cerveny and Chris Mason all did a song as well. I played three songs: "High School Band," "Early in the Morning" and "After the Last Tear Falls" which I had Andy P join me for.

I was sitting there feeling pretty completely out-gunned and just hoping that the people there wouldn't be dreading my four or five minutes at bat. I menioned before "Early in the Morning" that I would ask them to sing later. When I got to the part I didn't have to ask. It seemed like the whole room knew it and sang along loud and clear. I started to tear up, I won't lie. My record sales are barely measured in the hundreds and here was one room, at least, who seemed to know and really care about the song. It's almost a mystical thing, I don't want to think too much about it for fear that it will go away and never happen again.

Thanks so much to all of you who came and especially those of you that drove a few hours to be there. Oh, and the bunch of you that had to stand up the whole time and didn't leave. It's an honor to get to play my music for you. Can't wait for next week. See you there?

Thanks for playing, Andrew. It was great. I especially liked your duet with AP on "After the Last Tear Falls".

AO's harmony on that song is as awesome as it gets. So expressive. In terms of songwriting, it's a masterpiece. If the world were fair, it would have been a hit record. I'm fighting deep envy which rages against all the lucky ducks that were there.

Sorry I missed it. Hopefully it will show up on Indie River soon for those that it was a little too long of drive for a work night...

I keep trying to talk my wife into moving to TN. Doesn't anybody need a computer support tech?

You have absolutely no idea how much I would have liked to be part of that crowd.

Yeah, Andy...you're far more loved than you give yourself credit for. Give it time. If more people hear your music, more people will buy your music.

Andy - My roommate and I saw you perform last September in Minnesota, and there you mentioned your website address. A couple of months later, I was on the computer and decided to check out your site and have so appreciated your upfrontness (new word!) as an artist that I have weekly checked back to read of new adventures and thoughts you have so graciously allowed your listeners to be apart of...I purchased one of your cds at the concert I attended and look forward to being a conniseur of many more! Thanks for pursueing Christ in music and allowing us to come along for the ride! Lissa Catus

It’s awesome that you felt out-gunned. It would be hard not to with those great musicians around you. My wife and I had been to Andrew Peterson’s Christmas show at the Ryman, so we were excited. Anyway, we both walked away specifically amazed by your voice and songwriting. To be honest, I was hoping you would have played more, and can’t wait until next Tuesday. Amazing job!

It was a great show and your cd The Morning kept us awake on the late night drive back to Chattanooga.

Does a bear crap in the woods? ;)

Thanks to Stephen, my recorder had a front-row seat even though I was about halfway back in the room. The recording should come out pretty good. I'm working a proposal at work the rest of the week, though, so I don't expect to touch this before Friday. I do, however, expect to be at work most of the next two nights. Mmmm, fun.

And as for late drives after work ... word. Thankfully, I got home before 0100 this week, which is more than I could say for last week. I'm starting to get a little too old to be doing this all the time, but ... it's not gonna stop me from coming again next week.

[BTW, how awesome is it that people already half-expect stuff to be on IndieRiver? I'm giddy. Okay, so that's the lack of sleep and the stress talking.]

Lastly: Andrew, you're right. That moment? Awesome. There was even harmony in the crowd, too, man. It was special, and I was glad to be there...

Oh how I wish I could have come last night, or next week. But I enjoyed reading the review and will look forward to getting the bootleg. It sounds like an awesome concert!

WOW! It sounds like an awesome show! I wish I could have been there. However, it would have been a little longer of a drive than I could have handled seeing that I live in CA. However, my wife and I bought property in Crossville, TN last year and plan on moving next year. I can hardly wait! The first thing I will want to do is come to a Square Peg show. Or just an AO show. I can hardly wait!!

Does anyone know if there will be any of these sp shows in September? My wife and I were all set (and super excited) to come down to see the show on the 29th, but other things came up, and we won't be able to make it.

There's been discussion of adding some September dates, but I haven't heard anything firm... http://upcoming.org/group/1874/ will have data just as soon as it's known, like always. :)

The show really was awesome! I was ready to make the drive again next week about halfway through the first round... but my soccer team starts the season next Tuesday. Otherwise I'd be there along with Geof for sure. One of these days I'll even get my wife to come out for a show. (she likes the music, just not late nights)

Woah! Both Andys on one of the best songs ever written? Please do one next year during GMA, hopefully a bit more accessible to GMA attendees. ;-)

I so wish that I could get to one of these shows but living in Pa. it's a little bit of a drive and "Too Far To Walk". The couple songs you did at the Quarryville concert with Caedmon's that night were such a treat. "New Beginnings" is a great song. I've seen three of the Pegs live and some of them more than once. Come to think of it, I actually got to sit in with on the bongos. Heck, I've seen one wake up at my house twice, scary sight! "In the Meantime" I guess I'll have to wait for "The Morning" when I can make "One Phone Call" to find out who's playing and come down "Just As I Am". All of you epitomize the term "Labor of Love". Hoping to get to the Ryman to experience the show this year. Thanks for fixing my password Andy. Grace and peace, Bob A.
