motivated by rock

So a few minutes ago I was working away on something and my friend Matthew Smith (of Indelible Grace fame) left a large stream of delicious thoughts on my ichat. I believe it is in response to my claiming that at my CD release show next week "much rock will be had". Here is the glory...
hey i am looking forward to the rock
you would not believe how much i am motivated by rock
a good life philosophy in helping me make decisions has been "Is this good for the rock?"
it is has guided me well
if you see people wandering, not making good decisions in life and are generally miserable, you can be sure that they aren't being guided by a rock-centric philosophy
if people get too infatuated with folk, for example, you'll often find it leads them astay
astray
rock does not do this.
i mean, have you ever heard someone say "Does this folk?"
no.
you haven't.
but you HAVE heard someone say "Does this rock?"
THAT is a person who is being guided by core rock philosophies.
they can determine whether something rocks or not decisively
no room for ambiguity
and so they can confidently live their lives without constant second-guessing
that wastes time
back in the day, i would say "Andy, you should rock more, like 'Black Dress'"
you would say oh no i don't like to rock
the result? people thought you were an acoustic artist although you were no such thing.
now, with songs like "After The Garden," "Santa Barbara," "House of Mirrors," you are saying "yes, i do indeed rock."
it has opened up new opportunities
like the opportunity to say "Hey, Neil Young has a song called 'After The Garden' on his new record too, but mine is better."
"I am a better songwriter than Neil Young."
see, you never would have had that opportunity had you not embraced the rock.
