AP christmas tour - Nebraska

We just finished the second Christmas show here in Nebraska and it is going incredibly well. For those of you who haven't heard Andrew Peterson's Christmas album "Behold the Lamb of God", you are severely missing out. I can honestly say that playing through that record is the musical highlight of my year, and has been for the past few. We play it from start to finish without stopping and it is incredibly moving.
I get to play a smorgasbord of instruments which is really fun. A lot of guitar, both electric and acoustic, a little mandolin, 12-string mando-guitar and upright bass. I just have a blast going from one to another.
The playing of the album is the second half of the show, after the intermission. Beforehand Andrew, I and the four special guests each do two songs in a round. Derek and Sandra Webb (and/or McCracken) and Andy and Jill Gullahorn (and/or Phillips) are the guests. That's a powerhouse of great songwriting right there and it's an real thrill sit there and hear everybody share their songs one after another.
It's always a bit intimidating to have to follow one of them, even though we all know it's not a competition or anything. You just don't want to play a lame song after hearing one of their great ones, you know?? Maybe you don't, but you can imagine! It's great for me, though, very inspiring. I've played the usual, High School Band and Early in the Morning the past two nights, but I sold out of Photographs tonight so I'm going to whip something else out tomorrow. Don't want to get in a rut!
Well, we've got to hurry up and get on the bus to head to Iowa tonight, and I want to call my wife before I get on a loud, crowded bus. I hope you guys get to check out this tour, and if you can't, the DVD of last year's Ryman performance just came out. If you have seen a show, feel free to leave a comment and let me know what you thought.
All right, that's all for me tonight. Take care and I'll write more soon.

you rock, and you are defintely on par with these great singer-songwriters. thanks for sharing this!
It was a great show. Thanks so much for coming. I feel like Jesus gave me this special surprise Christmas gift. My mom and my son were both blessed. (That is not an easy musical feat!) Enjoy your family this Christmas and know you are in our prayers.
Hey Andy,
I'm coming to the Chattanooga show... looking forward to seeing you guys. Any Knoxville people who want a ride, email me at gregadkinsmusic@aol.com. We're leaving from West Knox at 4:30 and will be back by midnight... taking the big church bus with comfy seats so come and ride with us if you want.

I was at the concert in Michigan City, Indiana. *Loved* it...bought the cd and have been listening to it like crazy. :)
where can i get that dvd??
cant wait to see you guys in nashville!!
rawk on!!!
I'm making my girlfriend stand in light at 5:30 to get a good seat at the Chattanooga show. I don't get off work until 6:15. I think i'm going to be buying like 10 copies of the cd. I really can't wait to hear it live. I barely missed out on the shows last year. Andy, why don't you sell preorders at the show? Just get their information and do it that way. Audio Adrendaline did that on their last tour and it was very successful.
wallboski,
you can buy the dvd either at the concert or online at Andrew Peterson's website, www.andrew-peterson.com
Do you think the line standing is necessary? I was trying to show up, but it would require a long drive to get there, and I don't think leaving that early because of a possible line will work. Is there a good chance this will be a full house? - I am not familiar with the church's size.
From when I talked to the pastor, he said get there early because they have been receiving a lot of phone calls about the event. I havent actualy been in the church, but it is good size. If all else fails, just call me 828.329.5041 and Ill save you a place in line if you get there and it seems hopeless....Since it is a free show, and has been highly publicized in the community, I think there will be a very good turnout, especially from the college crowd.
Andrew, you are the hugest stud ever. I was at the show last night in good ol' Omaha, Nebraska (or just outside of Omaha). It was so amazing!!! Very moving, very. And Andrew, your songs were really amazing! First time I've seen you live and I was blown away. And what's really awesome is that you're so humble about it! Here's what you wrote above: "It’s always a bit intimidating to have to follow one of them, even though we all know it’s not a competition or anything. You just don’t want to play a lame song after hearing one of their great ones, you know??" ---and I'm sure this is true. But at the show last night, everyone else was "intimidated" to follow you! For real. Like more than one person commented that they hate to follow Andrew Osenga at these shows b/c he blows everyone away. Sorry Andrew, but the truth had to come out.:) I don't want to downplay the other artists, though. This whole show was amazing. You MUST go to see a show if the tour comes your way. It was still in my mind today. Andrew's new song, "Early in the Morning"---magical. It's magical. Haha. Dude, your songs are filled with so many memories from life, so much stuff we can all relate to. It's amazing. I stood in the back of that church last night for like 5 minutes afterwards wanting to go up and shake your hand just because you're awesome, but I didn't know what I'd say and was afraid I'd just look dumb. Stupid fear. It's amazing what fear keeps us from doing. Anyway, good job last night Andrew. You made an impact on me.
Andy, can I request that you break out "New Mexico" for the show at the Ryman? Ppppppplllleeeeeeeeease? ;)
Bah. With potential line and full house, plus the papers and tests that are ongoing, I think it would be foolhardy for me to drive up. Hey AO, you should play with AP at his Ocala, FL show. Then I'd be all set. Because what am I, if not a selfish creature? Wait, maybe I shouldn't fess up to that.
Andy - Woo (Mark) from Gardendale. Just got the DVD and watched it tonight with the family. My oldest son Neil is very proud to point out, "I know him, and him , and him..."
Looking forward to seeing you again in Trussville on the 18th! Be safe, and see you soon!
