A picture is worth a thousand words, or something...

It's no secret.  I like to read.  The classics: Steinbeck, Hemingway, Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, Vonnegut, Chesterton.

It's also no secret I like to read novels that involve spaceships and aliens.  Because it's fun and I'm a nerd.  So in light of my next project (details coming VERY soon) and in light of a book I'm currently reading, recommended to me by one Pete Peterson, here are a few of the most embarrassing covers of some of my favorite books.

Enjoy.

First up, the book Pete recommended (that's actually quite good...)

And a few of my other favorites...

"Ender's Game" and "Hyperion" are both excellent novels. I have "Rendezvous with Rama" but haven't started it yet. But I have to admit that Peterson's recommendation looks quite intriguing and I may have to track that one down.

Out of curiosity, have you tried "Dune" yet?

love it! There are a few books I've read and wanted to encase them in a cooler covers so I would not be found out as the nerd I am. In the end, I just read them privately at home. These are great covers...reminds me of the opening credits of "Gentleman Broncos"

I'm a sci-fi geek, too. Try the Warhammer 40,000 series, especially anything by Dan Abnett. They borrow heavily from the Dune series, but Abnett is the best sci-fi author out there today, in my opinion. Oh, and feel free to write more alien songs!

I even loved Starship Troopers. Try Keith Hamilton's Night's Dawn Trilogy. (The Reality Dysfunction, Neutronium Alchemist, and The Naked God) If you have any kind of life it will take you a while to get through it but it is really good.

I'm currently reading the Hyperion series. "The Fall of Hyperion" is so good.
