Root, root, root for the Cubbies

We're playing in Chicago today and Jeff, our bass player, got us all tickets to a Cubs game at Wrigley Field. I've never been to a major league baseball game, and I'm excited. More later...

Never been to a Major League game? Wow. How far is Normal from Chicago?

Seeing a game in Wrigley is a nice experience. Hope it doesn't rain on you!

See you tonight!

Hey Andy,

Hope you have a great time; you guys were great last night, it was well worth the drive fom Chicago. You, my friend, are a rock guitar master.

the Jeff is a nice guy...makes me want to start a band so the bass player can do nice things for me

As a die-hard Cubs fan, I'm very jealous. Trust me, you picked the best park ever for your first baseball game. Granted, I'm biased, but still...

This just in….from the U.S. Geological Survey:

An aftershock of the 5.2 magnitude earthquake felt in the Midwest yesterday was recorded late Friday evening with an epicenter in Kokomo, IN. Unconfirmed reports from observers claim that this latest seismic shaking of the earth was, in fact, triggered by blistering electric guitar solos performed by famed singer-songwriter Andrew Osenga during “Hold The Light and “When Will I Run in a concert performance in the aforementioned city.

Nigel Tufnel, a seismologist with the USGS, offered this comment on the condition of anonymity: “This aftershock should be regarded as a wake-up call to concert-goers everywhere. This type of seismic event is infrequent, but not unexpected. It has been known to happen when performers disregard the common sense ceiling for amplifier volume of 10. Reached for comment, Mr. Osenga’s only response was: “What can I say, mine goes to 11. Also reached by telephone from her home, Mr. Osenga’s mother could only say: “This is just one more reason why I keep telling him to put down that electric guitar and play something pretty.

Andrew Osenga can be seen on the remaining dates of the Caedmon’s Call “Overdressed Tour before embarking on a solo “Will-Play-For-Diaper-Money-Tour with dates yet to be confirmed.

Good show brother. 4/19 at North Park University. Great music. Crowd was a little bit wacky, but all in all, it was a good night. Twas a shame that I couldn't SEE a freakin' thing!! Stuck in the balcony, surrounded by cold fish, not the least bit friendly - and unable to see a single band member from my seat. My wife and I were completely bummed. Oh well, can't win 'em all. What did I expect for 15 bucks a ticket - a front row seat? It was my first, but hopefully it won't be my last Caedmon's Concert - I'll keep hoping for a better venue one day. Glad you got to check out the Cubbies!! Another home run by Derek Lee --- yesssssss!! Go Cubs Go, Go Cubs Go, hey Chicago whatdaya say, the Cubs are gonna win today! Take care Andy. Joe

Andy -

What about "the ball game?" See, I was assuming you were a Let's-Waste-The-Afternoon-on-the-Couch-Watching-The-Cubs guy. Well, here's to you growing. :) Wrigley is a good choice for first MLB game - it's one of the oldest and best experiences in the nation. Too bad the ivy is still brown (gets green in a couple weeks). tip: Old Style tastes good in Wrigley and absolutely nowhere else.

Didn't get to catch you real quick after the North Park show - but I've seen you once before at a show you (might) remember - 3-4 years ago? You were in Champaign, IL on the campus of University of Illinois playing in some old church with pews to about like 30 senior citizens. I was a campus missionary/staff guy down there, and came out with a friend to see who you were. Felt bad because somehow someone had booked you during Spring Break on campus - which helped explain why the greeter guy at the door was a little too happy to see me and my buddy because we actually looked like we were under 52 years old.

Anyway - we loved the show, chatted with you some, picked up your discs, and started your fan club in Champaign a little better than it was (you've gotta be one of the three total Christian-musicians I'll listen to). Feel free to hit up Champaign again sometime. I think we can fill things up a bit more than that poor show back then.

Loved your show last night - false starts and all. But all eight guitars, really? :)

Anyway - amazingly done - thanks.

grace,
chris

I saw Kokomo Friday. Drove from Cincy. You are a guitar hero. Seriously, all this talk of finding your voice? Dude, you are speaking loud and clear and the message is "I am going to melt your face off". There were a few times that my wife and I just looked at each other with our mouths open. Well worth the 3 hour drive.

I must say that Wrigley Field is pretty awesome even though I have yet to go. You guys were really good last night and thanks for coming out for the meet and greet afterwards even with Gino's pizza backstage. It was ver much worth the trip from Ohio to see you.

Your show last night at NPU was, without a doubt, one of the greatest concerts I've ever seen. It was funny, moving, and truthful.

I just wanted to say that I thought you handled the entire "play some music" guy with extreme grace. I'm not sure why he was upset...I thought you sharing some of the story of your own journey was riveting, and you are to be commended for being that vulnerable in front of that many people.

I've had the opportunity to see you solo, with AP, and now with Caedmon's, and you've been amazing each time.

Keep up the good work, brother.

Cubs suck. But not as bad as the new Counting Crows album.

Nick:
Over the past few days I have gathered that you are not altogether impressed with the new Counting Crows album. Am I jumping to conclusions here?

April 21, 2008 | Unregistered Commenterjason

come on nick.... you really don't like the new album? Its not there best, but there are definately some nice moments.... Washington Sqare?

Your show at North Park Saturday night was well worth the drive down from Milwaukee (and the drive back). It was great to see all eight of you on stage together. The last time I saw Caedmon's Jeff and Danielle were absent which makes me appreciate even more the opportunity of seeing the whole band together.
The AO highlight of the show for me was "Early in the Morning".
How was the pizza after the show?

Great show at North Park on Saturday night. My group of 4 ladies (ranging from 39 - 55 years of age) all enjoyed our evening with you all. We happened to be sitting next to the guy who yelled out "Play some music" - we were shocked as your "sharing" is what seeing you all in person is all about. I wanted to tell him he was rude but bit my tongue.... As it turns out he is a missionary so I'll pray that the Holy Spirit is with him as he does our Lord's work and that his rude comment was out of character for him as he was just so anxious to hear more of your music. I agree with the comment posted earlier - "Early in the Morning" was a highlight.
