it's that time again...

Time for photos of tour rehearsal! The bus will roll tonight and we'll have a few more hours of running through tunes before we have to break stuff down and get it loaded up.

These first few shows will be LONG. Just so you know. We're having trouble cutting songs, so we're just not going to for a while. I hope that's ok.

All right, on to the photos...

Here are my amps...

My guitars...

The new Strat...

A G&L Tele Josh, our assistant at Sputnik, is letting me borrow until my new one gets in...

A crazy hodge-podge of a pedalboard that will probably look fairly different every night, until I get my new one up and running...

Todd got a new drum kit...

Garett likes his tablas...

Harold, our sound guy (who is awesome)...

Josh, running lights...

And, because you can never forget who you really are...

See you on the road!

I still have my Normals pick. I'll never forget either.

The Normals pic is awesome. I was listening to "A Place Where You Belong" yesterday and was reminded of the good ol' days...

Sweet!

Dude, just play for 150 minutes and be done with it.

Please extend the looooong concerts at least through February 23rd. You shall have my undying gratitude.

Speaking of which, I wonder if someone at the Lancaster concert will have a recording setup. Hopefully.

Dude, We (the collective of Father Maple) got to go see Ryan Adams in Dallas, and he and the cardinals played for 3 freaking hours: no opening act and only a 15 minute intermission!!!! It was amazing. I'm all about long concerts full of good music.

we'll see you in conway!

MMmmm... long, extended jam concerts...

waterdeep will almost always win this one (at least with me). when don and the gang let loose and the music just flowed... oh, wow. some shows seemed to go on forever.

seeing the red hot chili peppers last year was pretty stinkin' cool, too. they had at least five sets in the show where it was just flea and john going at it.

i've said it before, i'll say it again: there's nothing quite like a band of seasoned musicians who are comfortable with each other and don't need every minute of the concert perfectly choreographed. (Mmmm... grateful dead!)

hey, i'm just saying that if y'all wanna keep the un-cut longer sets through your trip to kokmo, IN ... i'm definitely cool with that. and i know some other people will be too, so keep it in mind ;)

Andy, feel free to play as long as you want. We have a babysitter and can stay all night. :-)

If you have more of those Normals picks, we should start an ebay company. we could make millions! (of pennies.)

My favorite thing in all the pics is the Fender Prosonic. I've had that amp for about 10 years (my has the normal black cover, not the hot-shot red one). I've always loved that amp's sound, but I haven't seen many around. It's cool to see that you have one.

Now, if I can just get a Normals pick ....

Isn't the prosonic a solid state amp??

February 7, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterMichael

No. It's all tube. The Prosonic has a rectifier/bias switch on the back that lets you select different configurations: Tube A (which is much like a VOX AC-30, I think), Tube AB2, and what the back of the amp says is "Solid State" AB2.

It's a kickin' amp. I replaced my Fender 6L6s with Groove Tubes 6L6s several years ago, and they're still going strong (although they don't have to work too hard, because I don't play that much).

Seriously, feel free to not cut songs at the Hickory NC show

February 7, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJosh Stockment

Just to add to popular opinion... Long concerts are seriously the best idea any good band could have... I mean after 2 or 3 hours of listening to a band you love, you really feel like you got your money's worth... I hate going to a show and they only play for an hour, maybe an hour and a half... It feels like such a let down especially if you've traveled any significant distance to see it. Like when I went to see Dave Matthews in Texas (i live in mississippi) it was a 3 1/2 hour show and it made it totally worth the trip.
