Euchre

Every Christmas tour it happens. A game becomes THE game. Everybody plays it most of the time. This time it's threatening to be euchre; a midwestern card game generally dominated by grandmothers. Andy Gullahorn and I have been beating Marcus Myers and Bebo, but tonight we were overthrown in a highly contested 10 to 9 win.

Tomorrow shall be their reckoning.

Last night's songs:
High School Band
There is a Reason

It's too bad that my brother and I haven't played in maybe 15 years ... I would put the Morris boys up against the Andys. Film the whole thing and put it on YouTube.

Hi! I just wanted to tell you that I attended the Christmas show tonight in Leawood and loved it! The artists I saw on stage tonight appear to be such real, honest, and, vulnerable people and this shines through all of your music. Thank you so much! (and I wish I could be all of your friends-lol)

I went to college in Indiana and EVERYONE there played it. Except for me...I managed to make it through four years without playing a single game of Euchre, a fact in which I take delight.

Actually, euchre is a Michigan game. It started there and is played best by us. Not to sound bragadocious, but I run with a pretty tough euchre crowd. P.S. Farmers hand is lame.

I only played euchre once, but I was totally awesome at it. Of course, I grew up playing Rook, and that's a pretty similar game.

My freshman year at the University of Cincinnati Euchre was the ONLY thing I learned my first quarter (as evidenced by my 1.8 GPA). Once I got the important stuff out of the way I was on the deans list for the remainder of my career but that first quarter was all Euchre all the time.

I have requests for Saturday in Richardson:

1. "Trying To Get This Right" or "The Roses"

2. "Hold The Light"

Pretty please.

Eucher! Yes! That came dominated my college choir tour. Dude, sometimes you just have to go for a broke with a loner hand and end the game... nothing sucks quite like being up 9-2 and then the enemy pulls of two loner hands in a row to end it...yes, I have experienced this :)

Anyways, thanks a ton for the tickets last night! It was great seeing you again and hearing some great music :)

Andrew,
See you tonight at the show.
Tonight in Sugar Land, how about :

- Hold The Light
- Swing Wide the Glimmering Gates

And maybe you could whisper subliminally to Andy G to throw in
- If I Were and the Secret or More of a Man

I'm praying for traveling mercies over the next fortnight for all of you.
