Had a great show tonight in North Carolina. The crowd was awesome and we changed the set order a bit and I thought it flowed really well.
Alison's parents came tonight, and brought a few friends with them. We ate at a good old pub and got to spend some time together before the show, which was really fun.
Downtown Hickory, NC is a cool place and some of the guys discovered a cool, little coffee shop called Tee and Coffee. They walked in and found that the guys there were fans of the band. Derek called me from there while I was at the hotel grabbing a shower and told me they wanted me to play a set after the Caedmon's show and I said I'd love to.
They didn't have a PA so I just sat on a stool and played songs to the maybe 75 late-night owls who hung around to hear me play. It was really a fun time. Cliff and Todd joined me to sing Sarala, which was an exercise in almost getting things right. They had some recording gear there and had set up a few mics, so if anything good turns out from it I'll put it up here.
Thanks so much to everybody who came to hear my set and who came to the Caedmon's show. Tomorrow we're playing at an all-girls college. This is something which would have seemed very awesome eight years ago.
Oh, and here's a picture of the current pedalboard. This one is really doing it for me right now, though I can't wait for the final version that's about to be ready...

The signal path goes like this: BiComp compressor, Tuner (which goes out to the DI), EQ, FullDrive 2, 4-Speed Overdrive, Digitech Space Station, Carl Martin Trem o' Vibe, Boss DD20 delay, Option 5 Destination Rotation (Leslie simulator) to the A/B box. The Leslie sound only goes to the BadCat, while both amps get everything else. Pretty fun.
All right, I'm going to bed. See you tomorrow.

Second night... Second great show. I really appreciate you going to the coffee shop and rocking it out for us. I will say it is awesome that you are as personable in real life as you seem on the website. I can't wait until tomorrow to finish up my 3 nights of Caedmon's. Grace and peace.
Hey Andrew, I saw a while back that you use or have used a Route 66 comp/drive so I assume you're pretty familiar with it. I just got one and I was wondering if you could give me some pointers on how to kill some of the excess noise and get a good crunchy overdrive out of it.
Hi Andy! It was an awesome show! I was totally rocked out - I stayed till about 12 am in the guild room/coffee store. I enjoyed your solo set/open mic!
Andy, you and the band played a great show on Saturday night. It was a very uplifting set for me. I feel energized to greet the new week with all the light I can muster. It was my first time hearing any of your solo tracks, and I really enjoyed them. Keep up the good work with the band, fatherhood, and husbandry or what not.
peace and love
I like "Sarala". I saw you do it in PA last September. Did you remember the lyrics this time? ; )
Dude, the show ROCKED. You did an amazing job taking up the slack of josh being sick. I loved the extended solo of Hold The Light.
The Solo set at the coffee house was alot of fun! The girl I brought was a Huge fan of your songs -she said you were her favorite and she was asking which CD's to get first. You have a new fan.
Sorry I didn't have a capo...I'll remember next time!
I'll join Josh in posting during class. The show was excellent, and it was extra special because 1. it was my first live Caedmon's Show;
2. I got to introduce my girlfriend to Caedmon's.
The moments of 4 part harmony were especially sweet, and though normally the challenge is having a live performance meet the standards of the album, there was something special in your voice (maybe the accoustics, I don't know) on your songs, especially Hold the Light. There was a resonance that I can only call transcending.
The Coffee Shop was great too, and I have to say, it continues to impress me how many people tell stories about you guys just hanging out and goofing off with fans. I love the fact that you're the same people in life that you are in song.
I was at the show at Converse College yesterday afternoon. Not a student just a fan. Wow, 5 dollar tickets, should have been advertised. Loved you the best, you held your own when the mics died. Great job!
Andy....it was awesome getting to know you and hosting you and Caemdon's. Give my best to the everyone. God Bless.

Really enjoyed the show at Converse Sunday and definitely plan on getting a cd soon!!!!!!! :) God Bless You!!!!!!!!!!
There's a high-res photo of that pedalboard http://picasaweb.google.com/petergaultney/CaedmonSShowsPennsylvaniaFebruary2008/photo#5171012988006473250" rel="nofollow">here, and though it's from a bad angle, you can (if you're like me and have no clue what he's talking about when he lists all those different components) see the names of each piece when you're zoomed in.
Now if only I knew what a BadCat was.....
You are an amazing guitarist. I'm from Hickory, and happened to catch the concert with a friend of mine. They might pick on you about the pedal board, but it certainly a great accompaniment. You're albums should definitely sale.
I know this is late, but just for anyone else who doesn't know... BadCat is an amp brand; I don't know what model, but when he says the leslie sim is only going to the badcat, he's referring to one of his amps.
