Get a Goat?

I know, I know. An odd thing to see on a Monday morning, eh? Well, from now until Tuesday at midnight, some of the bloggers involved in the 40Day Fast are trying to help raise money, through WorldVision, to help and buy goats for families in need. "A goat nourishes a family with fresh milk, cheese, and yogurt, and can offer a much-needed income boost by providing offspring and extra dairy products for sale at the market. " So click on the above link if you want to help out with five or ten bucks today.
In other news, thanks to all of you who have prayed for me and sent encouraging notes this weekend. I'm still a bit woozy and I have a really cool neck bandage, so I'm not spending much time on the computer, but your support has been awesome. Although, I'm sure my wife and family needed it more. They weren't the ones that got to sleep all weekend.
I Did finish Harry Potter. It was excellent. I also watched a bulk of the episodes of a show called Firefly, which a lot of you had suggested. It, too, is great. It's a weird cross between sci-fi and western. I attempted to explain it to Alison to which she replied: "Do they time travel on a saddle?" Ah, if only...
And unfortunately, I can't time travel either, and I have to go back to work. My session today should be a little shorter, though, so that will be nice. Pray I make it all the way through! Thanks guys, and again, if you have a minute and a few bucks, let's try and help out those less fortunate today.

Firefly is easily in the top 2 or 3 TV series on my all-time list. Yeah, it's hard to categorize, but it's fantastic. Glad you enjoyed it.
I agree. Firefly is great. The movie, "Serenity," was pretty good too, but it seems like a lot of Firefly fans saw it as Joss Whedon's attempt to make the pain of losing the show go away.
Dude, I don't want to say "I told you so" in regards to Firefly... buuuuut... I told you so! Now, there's this little show called The Greatest American Hero...
; )
Glad to hear you're doing okay.
Firefly departed much too soon.
andrew,
if you liked firefly, that is but a wee taste of teh genius of joss whedon.
dont laugh, but you need to give "buffy the vampire slayer" a shot. (the tv series, not the movie..)
you have endure endure the first season (only 12 episodes, it was a mid-season replacement), but i guarantee that by the middle of season 2 you will be hooked.
the writing is absolutely stellar, and teh character development throughout teh series is one of the best of all time.
joe bassett...back me up here...

Stephen Lee: I will vouch for Buffy (although I much prefer Angel, but that's really because David Boreanaz is so pretty. ;) well, and Sarah Michelle Gellar irritates me).
Firefly is pretty stellar as well (er, no pun intended), so I'm glad you like it, Andy.
But--but--what about HP?
Firefly is unbelievable.
Wait til you get to Ariel-- best one hour sci fi episode EVER.
So I had to endure a visit to downtown San Diego during Comic-Con this weekend because my brother-in-law is a comic nerd and was in town to work at the event. Love him; don't understand his $45 purchase of a Captain America figurine. I narrowly escaped having to step inside the convention center itself... only to come to this blog today and encounter more sci-fi!! I've never felt chased by a genre before...
Hey Andrew,
I just wanted to say thanks for promoting the Get A Goat campaign. We've already almost gotten enough to ...um... Get A Goat ... for a family in need. Thanks for getting the word out.
I just watched firefly this summer and I loved it. I want to watch the DVDs again!
Firefly! Only 14 episodes and one tamed down movie.
Oh well, at least we have that.
Cavness speaks the truth... the first season of Buffy has some great, funny moments but is nothing compared to the genius of seasons 2-4. Brilliant stuff. And Angel is fantabulous as well, especially the AMAZING last season. Both are shows that can make you laugh and then rip out your heart at any given moment. Have I ever led you astray???? Do it Osenga! DO IT!
Thanks for sharing an opportunity to help a family in need... A great way to start the day. I just bought a teat or two. :o)
If the wife ever let's me hold a Firefly / Serenity marathon, I'll totally invite you.
The cancellation of Firefly combined with the fact that American Idol is on its 7th(?) season is proof of man's total depravity.
Amen, Jud. Amen.
Hell yes! Firefly rocks!
My sister and I usually like the same TV series
We're both into Heroes and Supernatural, but when I showed her Firefly, she hated it :(
Oh well, we can't always have taste I spose :D
Oh yeah, if you're still sick, check out Aqua Teen Hunger Force (if you like trippy sick and twisted cartoons.) It's kinda like Ren and Stimpy
Yes, truly, Buffy was one of the greatest shows ever, though personally I loved season 5. And three. And two. And I loved loved loved the final season of Angel though I also loved that whole series.
I couldn't really get into Firefly. I don't know what's wrong with me, I fully expected to love it, but it just didn't happen.
Also always thought Wonderfalls was a show that got the ax too soon....it's really funny and charming.
And yes, Harry Potter was wonderful.
buffy season 5 is probably my favorite, closely by 2, 6 is so dark, but the "trio" make up for it... holds a special place b/c it was the last... and andrew had all of the best lines..
you owe it to yourself andrew..
watch the series that will change your attitude about shows w/ "vampire" in the title....
well at least this one..
*season 7 holds a special place....
